I'm doing a lot of interviews for different technical roles right now. Here are some tips on how I use AI to make the interview process more effective. I upload the job description and the candidates resume and then use this prompt to help me structure the interview.

I will be interviewing a candidate for a [Job Title] role. I will provide you with (1) the candidate’s resume and (2) the job description. Please create two outputs for me:

1) A structured 60-minute interview agenda that helps me:

  • Build rapport with the candidate.

  • Assess their fit for the role through targeted technical and behavioral evaluation. If the candidate is strong, start selling the role and company to them. Wrap up with clarity on next steps

2) A set of 20 technical interview questions with expected valid answers that:

  • Test core technical competencies from the job description.

  • Are tailored to the candidate’s background (skills and experience from the resume) and address any areas of concern with the candidate's ability to succeed in the role.

  • Include scenario-based problem solving, practical troubleshooting, and applied knowledge questions.

  • Are structured so I can prioritize (top 10 must-ask, next 10 optional if time allows).

Make sure the agenda is broken down by time blocks (e.g., intro, technical deep dive, scenario, selling the role, wrap-up). For the technical questions, provide both the question and a model ‘expected good answer’ so I can evaluate the candidate’s response effectively.
